How the Program Works
Medical debt can be purchased for pennies on the dollar, which allows nonprofit organizations like Undue Medical Debt to purchase large amounts of medical debt. The $2.5 million that was transferred from the Finance and Administrative Cabinet to Undue Medical Debt will result in $250 million or more in medical debt being paid off for 130,000+ Kentuckians.
No Application is Required
Eligible Kentuckians are identified through participating medical-debt portfolios. Recipients are notified by letter after qualifying debt has been acquired and canceled.

Letters from Undue Medical Debt are already being sent to eligible Kentuckians. This letter is to notify you that eligible debt has been canceled. You don’t need to do anything but keep the letter for your records.
